peach & coral

American Apparel double u-neck dress // thrifted skirt // American Apparel belt sash // Spitfire sunglasses // ChloĆ© knock-off purse (sisters lol)

It's been only 8 days since I coloured it and fading is already occurring. The random sections of orangey pink and wine purple are gradually intensifying as the red fades away. It's quite pretty I think.
I haven't been this satisfied with my hair for so long! And must I add, it's really fun to photograph.

(So as I always conclude my posts with some music..)
Oh my god you guys, I'm so in love with The Wombats.

A Silent Spring

Somehow in the hustle and bustle of everything spring crept up on us. It's beautiful in the mornings, but it's nearing the end of the semester and there's no time to fully appreciate spring :(

(shirt, red jeans, sandals - all f21; belt & bag - thrifted)

I'm really into red for spring and summer. Red with wood accents, ahhhh...
Really thinking about summer.

Bloggy Posty

Hope everyone had a great 2010 and enjoying 2011 so far.

Second week of school, I'm still doing alright—as in, I can still manage to wake up early enough to dress decently and go to class. It wouldn't be a surprise if I disappeared from this blog in a few weeks time.

This shirt was kindly donated from a friend, Emily (she's pretty darn amazing, got her own fashion line and all, check her out!). I'm not sure where it's from but it 99.9% identical to the one Andrew of MGMT wore in the Electric Feel video.

The pleather mini was thrifted over a year ago at least but never wore it until recently. $6 it was I think, not bad eh?

Pure – Blackbird Blackbird

I'm addicted to Blackbird Blackbird lately. Blissful shoegaze/dream pop yummm.

a little update in life

It's been so long since I last blogged. I apologize! School work is ruining my life.

I'm going through a hair crisis again.
I've been thinking of getting some colour but I can't quite decide where to put it in and what colour. Cotton pink, lilac? Help a sistah out!
knit cardigan: thrifted // Vampire Weekend tour tee // belt: thrifted // jeans: f21 // moccasins: Minnetonka

I was told by a friend that I look like a grandma today. Not offended; I feel like a grandma today. To be honest, I made no effort into my outfit today since I was only going across the street to volunteer for a workshop for 2 hours.

Oh yes, welcome to my new room! I have a new backdrop for outfit photos now. I call this wall the "sacred music shrine."
It's always updated with new things (tickets, photos, cut outs, posters, CDs etc)
I quite like my room. It's brighter, more spacious and no more cinder block walls!

The birthday cake my friends got me (note the Vampire Weekend reference haha).

Foals: Yannis // Jack and I

The Drums: Jonny has some great dance moves!
I saw them play 3 times in 2 days (MTV, record store, actual show) and they remembered me! I ended up running into the drummer at the record store later the night.
They're so fun to watch live! I'm basically in love with this band now.

I love concerts.
My friends are always going "Another concert?! Again?!" but no more, there's only one left. I can't believe I'm still going to that one when I have a midterm the day after. Is there something wrong with me?

a call to arms

As Jennifer was writing up the previous post, I was actually enjoying myself at the MGMT concert on Aug 5th. I don't think I would be sane if I didn't blog about this long awaited event (been waiting since April).

***lengthy post ahead***

Left to right: James, Will, Andrew

My friend and I waited in line in the scorching summer heat for 8 hours. My makeup melted off my face by mid afternoon. But we didn't care; our ultimate goal was to get the best view in the venue and meet the band. I'm extremely happy that we got what we wanted!

This is a photo with Will but I got the banana from James though ;)
Unfortunately I was rejected from Andrew because a mob of girls behind us lured him away for photos :/

floral dress worn as a shirt from H&M // DIY destroyed jean shorts from Bluenotes // everything else is thrifted
Sorry man, this was the only semi "outfit shot" from the day. I didn't feel like photographing myself when I was like a melting popsicle.
My hair turned from alright looking to greasy and sweat-drenched.

This is how close I close and centred I was to the stage.
MEGA THUMBS UP BRO!!!

The setlist was impressive. 18 songs in total: 9 from the first album, 8 from Congratulations, and a cover of Anything Could Happen originally by The Clean.

A pivotal moment was when Andrew jumped off the stage during Kids.
I GOT TO HOLD ONTO HIS MUSCULAR AND VEINY ARMS AND FINGERS FOR A GOOD MINUTE! Call me crazy but hey, wouldn't you have done so if you were in my position?!

The concert was phenomenal.
Not only were we centre front row, we also met a bunch of awesome people like Violens the opening band and their soundcheck guy Billy! And OMG he just happened to be the lead singer of MGMT Andrew's roommate.
We had great conversations with him before, during, and after the show—he even brought us some fruits during encore!
One important thing I learned that day was to smile and wave at whomever enters the venue where you're seeing a band.
Who knows, maybe you could end up getting some insider info and privileges.

I met everyone from the band. My friends and I had a casual convo with Will the drummer. Oh y'know, talked about their recent trip to Japan, Montreal show, their plans after the night, Lollapalooza—no big deal ;)

(blue shirt dude's some staff person)
I also had my tshirt signed by everyone + Andrew drew me a little flowerrrrr.

I left at 2am, happy as ever. I didn't mind that I lost my voice for two good days (still recovering) and various parts of my body covered in bruises because **cheese alert** it was part of the experience that I know I'll remember and reminisce about 30 years later.

My next concert report? Vampire Weekend.
Stayed tuned, folks!

I forgot about a title

O hai, it's Candice again. I'm quite mighty today for jumping out of my pjs and getting dressed.

Purse, blouse, shorts, and the black choker necklace are all thrifted.

I introduce you this coin necklace from the limited edition of MGMT's Congratulations. I know right, who buys CDs nowadays when you can just download via iTunes (or illegally)?
66 55 red battleships
40 earthlike planets
3 holes
2 tits
1 fork in its side
0 tears in their eyes
Makes sense now, right?
I'm seeing MGMT with a friend, Teresa, in 20 days. Who's psyched? I FREAKING AM!

That's actually a chandelier.
Here's my rendition of Vampire Weekend's self-titled album cover featuring this lovely chandelier.

Some other Fuji Instax Mini photos

Since I've already mentioned Vampire Weekend anyway, I wanna touch upon the recent news of the band being sued for $2 mil. for the photograph on the Contra album cover. Don't quite know how I feel about this lawsuit but I really wonder, are they gonna change the stage backdrop from now on because of copyright issues?

(All photos are credited via click-through links to photographers' Flickr)

I'd like to see how this is going to be settled. I'll also see for myself on September 7th.
