These are some of my favourite purchases of 2011.. Of course I would never have the guts to wear the floral suit together in public, but a girl can dream right?

These are hard to wear because they're still bigger than my feet even with insoles and heel grips! I still like to wear them around the house from time to time, looking at my feet the entire time though.

So.. after almost two years of coveting these "lobster claws" they've finally joined my army of shoes thanks to Ashbury Skies. Now I'm off to start packing for 5 months of my life in a 50lb luggage...

Although winter was right around the corner at the time of purchase of these wicked JC's, I couldn't pass up the good deal Solestruck had for its Black Friday sale. I wanted the Gee Wa Wa "Fatale" (I've loved these since day one) but they sold out fast so I impulsively settled for these instead. Not bad though eh?

This is what I wore on my birthday to get pho and do some thrift shopping. I believe it's always lucky to wear red on your birthday + eat some long noodles for long life on your birthday, so that's exactly what I did. A little glitter also never hurts.

My glitter oxfords...the sole is starting to crack and come apart but they are so shiny and pretty still!

Casual wear for work...love the way these pants are with the asymmetrical Zara pumps. Also, they are so much more comfortable than skinny jeans! Dear god, my legs always are starting to go numb after a long day of blood constricting wear and this is so much more ~drama~ and comfort.

Wore this to Starbucks after a recent addiction to their iced chai latte and my friend's penchant of showing off his new iPad 2 by browsing the internet in Starbucks. I'm really sorry for the bad quality of these photos..I had to crop them super close...and I still haven't changed the image size. Will do that now!

I like the weird contrasts between bright magenta and green...and a bit of blue. I've turned into a colour fiend somehow. I've always believed in neutrals and greys for the summer but now I'm all about colour! Scary.

I got these wooden sandals for the summer and this is the first time I've worn them! I know why people don't make shoes out of wood anymore. They have no flex and are very uncomfortable...maybe if I put gel pads in?? I knew clogs weren't for me..

This is me trying to "look natural", and hence the awkward hand to hair pose...Probably only a few more outings until school starts *tear*

Somehow this summer I became a Zara whore, spending all my disposable income there (I actually adore sale season at Zara). I wore this to my boyfriend's birthday 2 weeks ago...I've been making the dough and going to school this summer so I haven't had much time to update, so you get 2 week old outfits.

He's so tall this photo of me is actually in a weird perspective and totally unflattering :(

Also I look like an inverted Christmas tree with my red dress and green bag -- what was I thinking??

One of the highlights of that weekend was making bacon-wrapped eggs.

Kingston, quite pretty at night. Also no crazy homeless people saying cray cray things, which is always appreciated.

I baked chocolate cupcakes with marshmellow cream icing in lieu of a real cake, they were pretty good.

My Mom Jeans

When I walk into a thrift store I can take hours to rummage through racks and racks of dresses, tops, and skirts but when it comes to the pants and jeans section, I rarely ever spend more than 20 minutes. Reason being that in my experience in finding a pair of decent and fitting bottoms is extremely difficult so I think I kind of just give up in that department.

But lo and behold, last week I found a perfect pair of (mom) jeans that I knew would be amazing as shorts.

I really do mean it when I say it's perfect. The buttery smooth and soft denim, the light and versatile wash, and the well fitted high-waist = the best combination in my book.

These mom-jeans-turned-shorts made it just in time before chilly September kicks in. And I think I just may live in them for the few weeks of summer left.

The Nature of Things

As you can see, I have a weird obsession with this skirt and the cut of it -- I have it in yellow and pink, and I had it in orange too but I decided it didn't make any sense to have three of the same thing so I returned it...though now I'm beginning to regret it.
I'm planning to have it made in green when I go to China next year, seeing as Zara is all sold out.

I've also been taking the sleeves off of shirts for the summer too, and this is another one of my victims. It was originally the kind of spunky short sleeved shirts you'd see on fun but badly dressed 60 year olds.

Here I am outside of the Canadian Museum of Nature. They had recently (about a year ago) renovated the building, the most significant being that a glass cube that was added to the top. It looks pretty cool, though I'm not sure if it serves any real purpose other than to look pretty and feel "modern".

I don't have a green thumb, per se, but I'm getting into a hobby of making new homes for my cacti (check out my glass cacti terrarium)! Here is my new spinely cactus in his own teak bowl (call me weird, but I have quite an extensive collection of Scandinavian teak bowls).

I like the idea of a hardy plant in teak and glass. There's a fair bit of romanticism in the combination of desert , wood and glass working together. I'm probably thinking of Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West..

I was at Bluesfest over the weekend...it was so hot and humid, but obvi with great music. I saw Diamond Rings, Neon Indian and Yukon Blonde, and some other bands I don't remember the names of.

I made my friend take a photo of me in front of the crowd. Love photos in front of crowds.

But seriously, he was great, even as an one person act. I have some of his songs on video but I'm lazzzzy.

Neon Indian was good too. Apparently Alan Palomo had lost his contacts before the show and had to play the whole thing blind.

I haven't posted in a long time, but look at all this greenery and colour!

Spring is finally upon up, and of course all that rainy gloomy weather. No complaining from me though because I'm glad it's finally kind of warm enough, and school is kind of out (I'm taking some summer courses, so not reaaaaally out of school.)

I'm in all orange (it looks red) because....well vibrant colour is totally my thing now! I don't really know why, but colour colour colour...must be some kind of summer fever.

I totally got this H&M sweater in all kind of patterns and colours, because I find myself wearing the black one so much. Probably a good call there now that the weather is getting chilly again.

These boots also don't look very high, but they're make me a good 4 inches above ground, and surprisingly comfy if you subtract the sprained ankles from all that height. My ankle joints are super flexible now since I sprain my ankles all the time....clumsy..what can you do right?

Winter meets spring?

The last time I updated here was still winter/January. Sometimes I question why I'm still co-running this blog haha. Meanwhile, the bipolar Toronto weather is here yet again. It's mid April and it feels like early December.

The weather has been super up and down lately, really warm on one day and then freezing cold with the worst windchill on the next. It's been exceedingly hard to get dressed in the morning without going out and not be like DAMN, I'M OVER/UNDERDRESSED!

In other news, I've been wearing mostly the same monochromatic things for the past few months. This comfy tank dress from AA that I have in 2 colours (grey and black) and this cropped sweater from H&M. And my grey Urbanears!

It was soooooo cold out today (-27°C), I actually wore two winter coats.

I still braved the cold to take photos though! It was actually just really cold because it was so windy...other than that it wasn't so bad.

I put on nice makeup to go to the Apple Store and see if I could seduce them into fixing the giant crack on my computer which happened from the extreeeeme cold, but silly me didn't get the closing time right so I ended up going to school.

It's actually been snowing non-stop for a while, so there's been lots of snow!
We went tobogganing the other day and it was soooo much fun.
The hill at Mooney's Bay is so steep and awesome, and there were like smaller hills attached to it.

Don't you just love the thrill of going down a snowy hill? It's almost as good as free fall on a rollercoaster.

My friend had a 4 people sled, and it was just so awesome going down on that.

Do you guys like what I got over boxing day?
I love these boots and also this dress is so fairy-esque, haha.
Boots have no traction though, so going tobogganing in them was not the smartest idea...

Hope everyone had a great 2010 and enjoying 2011 so far.

Second week of school, I'm still doing alright—as in, I can still manage to wake up early enough to dress decently and go to class. It wouldn't be a surprise if I disappeared from this blog in a few weeks time.

This shirt was kindly donated from a friend, Emily (she's pretty darn amazing, got her own fashion line and all, check her out!). I'm not sure where it's from but it 99.9% identical to the one Andrew of MGMT wore in the Electric Feel video.

The pleather mini was thrifted over a year ago at least but never wore it until recently. $6 it was I think, not bad eh?

I realized how inconsistent the photos look in this post. I was close to retaking everything because I'm nit-picky like that. But nah I'll pass this time; I'd rather snuggle in my bed with my tea, laptop, and yarns & needles.

Weirrrrrd, I never posted this. This update is way too recent compared to how frequently I've been posted in the past 3 months, but hey, enjoy it while it lasts.

Damn it, I missed this weather so badly! Actually I'm going to San Diego for vacation for about a week (visiting family on the West Coast, yennoe.)

I'm going through a hair crisis again.

I've been thinking of getting some colour but I can't quite decide where to put it in and what colour. Cotton pink, lilac? Help a sistah out!

They're so fun to watch live! I'm basically in love with this band now.

My friends are always going "Another concert?! Again?!" but no more, there's only one left. I can't believe I'm still going to that one when I have a midterm the day after. Is there something wrong with me?

I Hate the Nightlife

So I'm been sick and dressing all hipster frumpy all week (i.e. no colours). I never did think I would be labelled a hipster (cue you guys snickering as if you knew all along), but I was never thought about it until a friend called me a hipster offhandedly and everyone else around just agreed. Oh well. True hipsters are the ones that don't like being called hipsters. At least I can pretend to be authentic.

I'm not really sure what these photos are...not really a photoshoot (I actually hate the blogging connotations of that word) other than fooling around with some friends and acting crazy.

My theme that day was vampire from the future (like Twilight combined with The Matrix...you got me?)

As you can see, I've finally moved in to my new place in Ottawa. I'm living with 5 (!!!) other friends here. We get a lot of visitors to our house...we live pretty close to the station and people just like to drop by whenever they want. I was about to take a nap when some friends suddenly showed up and made me go have a movie marathon at their house.

I can never resist movies. I watched Star Trek for the 4th time on their big screen in HD with surround sound, and then The Invention Lying (kind of EH even though Ricky Gervais was in it), and then Up (once again). Does no one else cry at the wordless part with Ellie and Carl??
I always end up crying at the end of that sequence...

I ended up staying way past the intended time..the train stopped running. My housemates and I had to walk to the nearest transitway but ended up walking in the complete opposite direction...
We did end up home though thanks to the only 24 hr bus here in Ottawa...

I couldn't say no to movies and friends who are as boss as this.

That was yesterday and tonight....somehow we ended up seeing two concerts in one night, one made for hipsters (in the Glebe) and another made for bros (at Carleton's frosh).

What can I say? This fucking hipster liked The Love Machine much much much more. Plus the light show was pretty damn awesome.

They were decent, but were terrific on their instruments and the instrumentals were just so boss.
Preferred the instrumentals to the singing, but then again, I'm a big fan of Explosions in the Sky and 65daysofstatic.

I am exhausted now. My year is having a BBQ at my house tomorrow so I'm anticipating that!
After doing nothing much for 4 whole months during the summer, this kind of frenzied activity really tires me out.

How ironic of me to update when summer's ending...

I got a subtle haircut, y'know like trimming my bangs (yes, I do have straight cut bangs now).

I love cutting my hair in 3am in the morning, I know.

I found this kimono sleeved pullover in a big bag of my sisters' old clothes a few months ago.

Of course I'm keeping it, no one's gonna wear it anyway.

Summer's coming to an end; fall's creeping in.

School commences.. but good news, my social life for September and October is covered.

As Jennifer was writing up the previous post, I was actually enjoying myself at the MGMT concert on Aug 5th. I don't think I would be sane if I didn't blog about this long awaited event (been waiting since April).

***lengthy post ahead***

My friend and I waited in line in the scorching summer heat for 8 hours. My makeup melted off my face by mid afternoon. But we didn't care; our ultimate goal was to get the best view in the venue and meet the band. I'm extremely happy that we got what we wanted!

Unfortunately I was rejected from Andrew because a mob of girls behind us lured him away for photos :/

The setlist was impressive. 18 songs in total: 9 from the first album, 8 from Congratulations, and a cover of Anything Could Happen originally by The Clean.

A pivotal moment was when Andrew jumped off the stage during Kids.
I GOT TO HOLD ONTO HIS MUSCULAR AND VEINY ARMS AND FINGERS FOR A GOOD MINUTE! Call me crazy but hey, wouldn't you have done so if you were in my position?!

The concert was phenomenal.
Not only were we centre front row, we also met a bunch of awesome people like Violens the opening band and their soundcheck guy Billy! And OMG he just happened to be the lead singer of MGMT Andrew's roommate.

We had great conversations with him before, during, and after the show—he even brought us some fruits during encore!

One important thing I learned that day was to smile and wave at whomever enters the venue where you're seeing a band.

Who knows, maybe you could end up getting some insider info and privileges.

I met everyone from the band. My friends and I had a casual convo with Will the drummer. Oh y'know, talked about their recent trip to Japan, Montreal show, their plans after the night, Lollapalooza—no big deal ;)

I also had my tshirt signed by everyone + Andrew drew me a little flowerrrrr.

I left at 2am, happy as ever. I didn't mind that I lost my voice for two good days (still recovering) and various parts of my body covered in bruises because **cheese alert** it was part of the experience that I know I'll remember and reminisce about 30 years later.

My next concert report? Vampire Weekend.

So I went back to Ottawa the past weekend to move in and get all my shit in my room.

Since it was the long weekend, we decided to go see some things in the capital city, namely the Canadian Museum of Nature.

The natural forming rocks are so pretty!!!

They form in the most impossible shapes. Nature is amaaaaaazing!

I never thought I'd apologize for not posting but I'm really sorrrry for not posting.

For the past few weeks I've gotten SUPER busy (as opposed to bumming around at home),

but things didn't manage to work out so now I'm bumming around at home once again, with time to blog (and watch a lot of Bones).

Once again, it's way too humid to be taking photos anywhere so you have to contend with my now blooming garden.

I wore this to my driving class (which I went to with Candice). It turned out to be lots of fun thanks to having a cool group, despite the potential to be super boring.

This now leads to the actual in-car driving part...my instructor is kind of an ass. At the end of the first lesson he was all:

"You should be glad that I'm teaching you because no other instructor will have the patience to teach you."

WTF?!? Even if I'm absolutely CRAP at driving (which by the way, I am not, you will not see me on Canada's Worst Driver), you don't say that to a paying customer.

Whatevs, I'm gonna be so good at driving I'll win an award for it and you'll regret ever saying that about me.

I got these shoes from Forever21 'cause they're on Yellow Tag sale for 14$.

I really like the shape but DAMN they are so stiff! Get these only if you're willing to endure a few blisters before you break them in..

Dimpled Knuckle Ring is (once again) from Forever21, dunno if it's still online.

I also got the striped shirt I'm wearing from H&M (men's section, hehe) on sale for 10$, but imagine my frustration when I go back to the store a few days later and see them priced down to 5$...:(

I ended up picking up the same style in a different colour, making it 7.50$ per shirt.

I also got Revlon's ColourBurst lipstick in Soft Nude! They just came out in Canada recently.

I went to 4 different stores and they were all sold out in this ONE colour!

Luckily, I managed to snag the very last one at WalMart :3

I really like the formula and it's a really nice nude tone, but maybe it washes me out just a little bit.

It's been a long time since I updated, exactly a month actuallyt. Y'know, enjoying life/summer can be busy sometimes!

The past weeks had been chaotic–renovation, my sister's wedding, and spending time together with the whole family since my second sister flew back from Japan for the wedding.

I also went to Casa Loma with my sisters. It's a beautiful Gothic Revival castle built in the early 1900's but it's been a tourist attraction since it was seized by the city.

It's shame that we were in a rush due to early closing hour so I didn't have the chance to take too many photos.

Last Friday Metric came for a massive concert with Holy Fuck and Passion Pit opening. I gotta be honest, I mainly went for Passion Pit and Holy Fuck. Conflicts arose between a friend and some ticket issue thus I missed HF entirely and even a few songs of PP. (I'm not even gonna go into details of how much of a d-bag my friend was.)

Oh my GOD it is so hot in Toronto, I'm not even kidding.

I went outside at like 6:30 am to take these photos for literately 5 minutes and

I'm sweating more than a pedophile when a FBI van pulls up.

Really, this heatwave is all over Canada, from Toronto to Montréal all the way over to the Maritimes.

As much I like heat, I HATE the humidity. I don't like sweating so much, so sticky, and you have to drink water all the time.

I stopped caring right after Argentina was knocked out.
(It was the last team with players I actually am familiar with in the WC, now all I have left is Wesley Sneijder, that as much as I love Wes, being an Inter fan and all, he's not enough to make me like the NED team.)

You know what I hate about the World Cup though? It's not my teams losing, it's not my favourite players injured, it's annoying little "football" fans that come out only once every 4 years and proclaim to be the country's biggest fan ever. Like seriously, they'll regularly post to their facebook news updates from FIFA about what the coach said, or what happened during training, but when you ask them which club won Champions League last season or what clubs their favourite players play/played for, they draw a blank.

I honestly welcome any new fans picking up watching/appreciating soccer/football and gaining interest in it, but don't act like a fucking know-it-all superior to every other fan just because you surf the internet a bit. Some of us spend hours everyday trying to keep up with our favourite teams and players out of sheer passion, so don't try to belittle us just because you wanna seem like the know-it-all authority figure when EVERYONE is watching the World Cup

(evidently everyone but me, since I sleep through it all. Blame it on Domenech and Joachim Löw.)

I've been spending 9 hours a day just watching the World Cup...
Very tiring, so not much energy left to take photos and blog!
Plus, I just laze around in my Sweden jersey anyway with my laptop in hand..

My yard is pretty much a mess but as you can see there is a lot of life in it..
We have two different types of rose bushes in the yard, plus lots of other plants.

I just got my haircut too, but the green parts are still getting lighter and lighter
as you can see here...I'm not sure what to do with it but it's slightly cool.

These shoes make me very happy. They're so shiiiiiiny and glittery and the right shape.
It's too bad they're a bit too stiff and always gives me blisters, because I'd wear them all the time otherwise! They add just the right amount of (overdone) flair to anything I wear.

Also, I totally meant to go see Surfer Blood + The Raveonettes + lots of other bands at NXNE,
but it turns out I had to do a family thing last minute..

It's been 2 weeks since my summer course started.
Every time my prof says "electric field," I still hear it as electric feel. MGMT much? haha

The blue elastic sandals are Topshop "Hira" rip offs After a year, I'm still lusting over those Zara knock offs of Sergio Rossi's elastic strappy heels. Although it's more like a navy blue, for $18 sandals version is definitely worth getting.

and maybe hand out a few résumés (which didn't happen).

We took a few outfit shots, but don't let the nice weather fool you, it was actually as cold as heck.

This is my favourite piece in the whole show.

The artist has a few other pieces that depicted movement so well but I didn't get great photos of them.

I wasn't overly impressed with the industrial design work that were shown,

but it does have something to do with me coming from a much smaller ID program with a much more technical basis, and industry involvement.

Our graduates (Carleton and YSDN) worked with a lot of industry professionals and actual companies for their thesis works,

whereas the OCAD students had a more self and prof directed approach.

C: I wasn't too fond of the graphic design or advertising work. Not quite impressed by the winners either lol.

Great illustration work! I was most impressed with the illustration works exhibited.

Almost every single one of them I adored and would have paid money to see!

I got to meet MGMT when they dropped by the local radio station to co-host on Wednesday. The whole time during the interview Andrew was doodling instead of paying attention haha. He's pretty awkward but really chill. Ben is shy but very sweet.

Ever since Congratulations leaked earlier this year, some fans went berserk about it claiming that MGMT is trying to get rid of the "mainstream fans." I understand what they mean by that but I don't agree at all. Yes, this new album is very different Oracular Spectacular but there are so many aspects as to why it's like that.

Personally, I like electro-pop a lot and I really enjoyed all of their old stuff. Although I wasn't too impressed when I heard the second album for the first time since it wasn't what I was expecting, as I listened to it more it slowly grew on me. I think it's great that they're experimenting and not just sticking with the "electro-pop" and catchy songs.

My school also had a grad show that I went to see
(some what haphazardly and rushed)

4th year work, designs for the Children's Museum.

2nd years designed storefronts and the products to be sold in them.

This model is made out of wood! It's actually really heavy, but look at that finish!

The 3rd years designed birdhouses for the Toronto Botanical Garden.

4th year again, a screen that is to be used in museums to display information.

It's pretty cool how it projects from a small projector off a mirror.

There was also first year work displayed

(they put up my salt and pepper shakers, hahaha)

but I didn't get great photos of it, so I'm not posting.

I'm moving back to Toronto this weekend so there will be probably more photos when I meet up with Erik!

I'm so in love with these tights. They're thin enough to be worn during warmer weather.

The infamous AA circle scarf has finally made its debut as a piece of clothing!

This one was $6 from the rummage sale back in November. I didn't have anything white that's long enough to cover my butt so circle scarf, why not?

I would've ditched the cardigan if it weren't only ~13ºC today (much colder in the shade).

These earrings are pretty awesome! They're like zippers. Got them from Oskar for Christmas.

Then there's the necklace/choker, however you wanna call it; $1 from Value Village. I love how simple it is (can probably be DIYed too) and it's like my "everyday" kind of neck accessory thing now haha.

Grad show was great. I was too mesmerized by some amazing work that documenting them became oblivious thought.

The only two things I managed to photograph were this really cool interactive touch screen display.

The other one: juice box packaging. I'd actually buy this if it were in the stores.

I would love to go again tomorrow if someone would accompany haha.

Sooo, this volcanic ash from Iceland business is getting on my nerves. I'm not quite sure if my ASOS order was shipped or not.

But meanwhile, I've been distracting myself with good music.

The H&M Garden Collection is to die for. What is there not to love about it?

The shorts were so light and comfy; almost too perfect I say.

Although, I must admit that the dress looked more adorable on the rack than on me. I wish there was one size down but no luck, the store I visited was small.

This one's from Zara. The neckline and straps looked terrible on me but I dig the print!

I did buy these beautiful floral tights from H&M though.

They will debut in an outfit very soon. I mean, it is about that time that I do an outfit post right? I've disappeared from this blog long enough to be forgotten haha.

I've been real quiet because it's exam season :(

I wore this to buy microwave meals.

It's such a pity because the weather is so nice, but I'm holed up studying for econ!

The funny thing is, half way through taking these photos,

I realize that an old man in the house next door was looking at me through his balcony window.

My first order from ASOS came in!

I got these two necklaces from the men's section and I love them!

They came packed in these charming boxes, and they are made out of real metal!

The bronze necklace is actually really heavy.

You can probably blind someone if you swing it in their face.

I also bought some other things too but they're not really everyday wear,

probably more appropriate for parties..we'll see.

Studio is over for good (this school year), so my friend had a party!

I ended up being the DJ, and it was all good fun.

I got the American Apparel nail lacquer in Office about a week ago.

Actually, I've been wanting these shoes for a long long time now,

ever since Ann Demeulemeester sent them down the runway many seasons ago.

Well if I could I would just wear Ann for the rest of my life, but course that's not in my budget at all.

These are great quality replicas, and they costed less than a hundred dollars!

(Yeah, those Jeffrey Campbell copies were not in my budget either)

Actually, other than getting the shoes in the mail

this week has been the worst, most disastrous week ever.

After stressing over and over about the design of a kitchen product

I finally decided on the design and even after doing my renderings three times

Still, nothing looked good.

I missed the deadline and when I finally had something to hand in, the secretary wasn't there!

On top of that, there are tonnes of work to deal with and do

Formals to plan and posters to make.

The worst came yesterday

when the trackpad on my less-than-a-year-old MacBook Pro just CRACKED

while I pushed the edge to see why it wasn't clicking.

I don't think the next two weeks are going to go well either....

Yes, cape sweater again—belting it this time.

I bought these lace leggings on an impulse last July but I never got around wearing them since nothing in my wardrobe quite "matched."

This is the first I'm wearing them! I think I did an alright job lol. Opinions?

This cake was delishhh! Strawberry meringue with crusty layers from Second Cup (it's almost like the Canadian version of Starbucks but not quite).

Pair this with their green tea latte.. my day would be complete!

Cutout Skulls

I saw pictures of the Pleasure Principle cut out sweaters and decided I needed one.

I attached a pdf of the pattern and a small tutorial if you want to make your own!

(tee, DIY; studded jeans, DIY; white tank + peeptoe booties, forever21)

Here is my "tutorial"

It's actually just a really fast cut out project. Max. 2 hours.

Materials:

-Sweater or tshirt you want to cut out -- I used a long sleeved tee from Old Navy.

-Scissors, preferably a small one to cut the smaller pieces out easily

-Tape

-A printer

-White marker or chalk (or a pencil, if you are draw on light coloured fabrics)

1. Download this pdf and print on two sheets of letter-sized paper.

2. Cut out the dark areas from your stencil

3. Align the two sheets on the area you want to cut out -- the back of the shirt works the best. Tape the stencil down.

4. Grab your white chalk (I used a white marker, but chalk works best), or a black pencil for the white tshirts and outline the areas you cut out of the paper.

5. Finish outlining...it should look something like this:

6. Cut out along the lines you drew out...and you're done!

Big undertaking today.

My hair is now blue.

You can't see it so much in this picture...and because I dyed it twice to get ride of the really green strands, it's now a really dark blue instead of the bright electric blue I wanted it to be :(

Next time I'll know to use white dye with the bleach to get rid of the yellow.

Towards the back it is still really greenish because I couldn't see where to apply the dye so I didn't bother.

I'm back from Montreal!

I had a a great time with everyone.

All 150 of us dominated the entire hotel since the trip was organized by my affiliated college.

We got to party hard in the halls unlike in residence haha.

I didn't bring my dslr, in fear of having it stolen (as warned by a friend).

So these point-and-shoot photos shall suffice.

At the Biodome. There were blue star fish! I didn't know that those existed.

Most authentic poutine I've ever had in my life!

I can't recall the name of the restaurant but it's in Old Montreal.

The buildings and roads in Old Montreal were beautiful. I felt like I was in Europe!

We went to Old Montreal. Tons of art galleries.

We went by a contemporary furniture store but unfortunately it was closed.

Book case! There were other ones too, like Coach, Gucci, YSL, but I liked the Chanel one the most.

I went skating this Friday.

I skated the whole length of the Rideau Canal -- that's 7 kms!

It's the annual winter festival.

There were lots of snow sculptures.

There was also guerilla knitting!! So awesome

Half way from skating the canal, we stopped and had beavertails with hot chocolate, yum.

To be honest, I suck at skating

I fell countless times, about 10 times on the same spot on my butt.

Today I am in so much pain, but it was so worth it!!

Reading week is finally here! I'm home, now chillin' in the basement.

I hate packing. I always forget something important, like my other lens that I use for outfit shots.

Oh hey, it's me--surprise surprise! I'm resurfacing the blog again.

I can't wait till Reading Week. I've been suffering from this massive work load lately (hence the temporary disappearance). I can't write essays for beans! They hurt my head.

Nothing spectacular. The result of lack of sleep only allows me 20 minutes to get ready in the morning.

I noticed that I wear something by AA almost every day. I'm glad I went to the Rummage Sale back in November. I don't think I can let myself pay the regular price (although the circle scarf is bought from store).

I dropped $82.45 at Kinko's last week printing 72 pages in colour on 80 lbs paper. I can only blame myself for procrastinating and not keeping up with my schedule.

I guess it's a good thing that I'm done for now, just some rendering to do :)

I got this trench from Forever21 for cheap (15$)

It's 100% cotton and quite comfortable.

I see a lot of leopard in the men's shows in Milan,

and though I'm not a big fan of animal print

this print seems whimsical, relaxed, and almost comical.

this definitely isn't a print to see on a real leopard.

The sweater is definitely one of my new favourites.

I find myself wearing almost always the same things since boxing day shopping:

skinny jeans, oversized thermals/sweaters/tshirts, trusty boots.

I found this on consignment with Erik over boxing day.

It's not very practical in terms of warmth, but the texture is certainly very interesting.

For once, I have work to show you!

This may seem childish, but it's an egg racer used to race raw eggs down the hallway.

Yes, this is what my university education consists of.

The craft is really bad because I had to modify my car so it would actually race

(it is powered by a rubber band).

The funny part is that during the race, my car curved so much it took out another racer.

Both Erik and I are super busy this week with school work. I have a midterm in about 7 hours and I still have one more chapter to study!

But I'm going to take a break and just talk a bit about interests and things like that.

I guess Erik and I never really did introduce ourselves.

We are two design students from across the country of Canada...
ok, so it's the province of Ontario. Close enough.

I'm studying Industrial Design in Ottawa (Carleton students, if you ever see a bizarrely dressed girl, give me a holler)
and Erik is studying Graphic Design in Toronto (don't holler at her)

I love shoes
And that's an understatement.
This is a pair that I had bought for prom
but decided it needed to be more of a statement
so I glued bits of mirror onto the heel.
Surprising enough, it managed to qualify
in Aldo's DIY contest

while I didn't win
they were nice enough to send me a giftcard so I can buy more shoes

Long Weekend

I am stuck in studio all weekend,

so there is nothing better to do than post right?

I'm sorry Erik that I am breaking the chain,

but I am actually all alone in studio with no inspiration or ideas at 10 p.m. and without dinner.

Nevertheless, it looks like I'll be living in jeans, jersey knits, and thermals (a.k.a all comfort clothing) all weekend,

so I thought I'd take some photos before being stranded at school for 3 whole days without going home.

Ahh, studio really is a scary place when you're all alone.

We have no windows in our studio, so you can never keep track of time.

It almost feels like time does not pass in this place because it always looks the same,

the way the light falls, the way the workspace is arranged.

If only we can have natural light.

I always make sure I don't go into the architecture studios during dusk

because they have floor to ceilingwindows and the light is just so beautiful.

My friend Jon was supposed to take photos of me for a photoshoot last week. He was super excited about it because he hasn't had a photoshoot in a long time, yet he had forgotten to bring his camera.

I ended up just taking photos of myself. An acquaintance at school told me that I reminded him of Cruella de Vil in a good way, and I guess that is a good thing.

These pictures at still rather out of focus...I just can't seem to take photos of myself in focus, and have no patience to adjust it in the bitter cold.

It looks like this weekend will be another weekend spent at school working on projects.

Now, back to brainstorming ideas for an egg racer.

Weather was surprisingly warm yesterday (and today too) but too bad I only had to go out to grab lunch.

Yes, I live in a jail ceil, which is why it's difficult to get decent full outfit shots with good lighting. It doesn't quite help when my window view is basically bushes.

Winter Romance

These days all I do is sit at home and eat raisins.

I've given myself a sort of midweek break. On Wednesdays and Thursdays I don't go to school. I have one or two classes on these days and none of them are worth going to.

Instead I choose to sit at home and play dress up.

Of course I wouldn't wear this outside in this weather. Neither is what I'm wearing really "my style". But I've been rather down lately and this sort of thing cheers me up.

Lately I've been gravitating to soft colours like beiges, oatmeals, creams and browns. I never really thought I would soften up. I thought I would live in studs forever.

This is one of my favourite bags. It is the perfect shape and is a lovely brown.

I originally bought the necklace for a friend but I liked it too much to give it to her. Now it decorates my bag.

I also painted my nails a bright, almost obnoxious green to offset this gloomy weather.
